As Japan prepares for the arrival of an aging society with a falling birthrate, its national healthcare system is undergoing drastic reform. In this day and age, the conventional process of early diagnosis and treatment of disease is insufficient. Pressing concerns about increasing medical costs, in combination with growing public interest in health, have intensified the focus on preventive medicine. Moreover, technological advances have provided many new therapeutic options, leading to greater awareness and increased interest regarding patients’ quality of life.

Ever since our early days, Nihon Medi-Physics has been striving to realize wider use of nuclear medicine, to fulfill our mission of contributing to the better public health and welfare by providing radiopharmaceuticals useful for medical care practice. Responding to growing medical needs, in 2003 we launched Iodine seed, used in brachytherapy for prostate cancer. More recently, in 2005 we launched a diagnostic agent for Positron Emission Tomography (PET), which is considered useful for early diagnosis of malignant tumors; in 2007 we introduced a radiopharmaceutical for palliation of pain caused by bone metastasis of cancer. These recent achievements were the first in Japan.

As the leading company in the diagnostic nuclear medicine industry, we are pursuing our efforts to obtain higher recognition of nuclear medicine among healthcare providers, so that it can be used to a greater extent in their medical practice.
